Competing is an exciting part of your martial arts journey — it’s a chance to test your skills, grow your confidence, and represent LSK Martial Arts. Whether it’s your first competition or your tenth, good preparation can make all the difference.

Below is a clear guide to help you get ready for point fighting and light contact kickboxing events.

Registering for the Event:​

Check the Event Details: Each competition will have its own registration deadline and entry process. We’ll provide links and instructions once events are announced.

Personal Information: Be ready to provide your full name, club name, age, weight, and height.

Weight & Age Categories: You will be entered into a division based on these details. Double-check your category before submitting.

Coach Support: If you’re unsure, speak to your coach.

What to Bring on the Day:

Correct kit is essential for safety, performance, and meeting competition regulations. For Point Fighting & Light Contact, mandatory equipment typically includes:

  • Approved head guard

  • Mouthguard

  • 10oz gloves or open hand point fighting gloves

  • Foot guards and shin guards

  • Groin guard (mandatory for males, optional but recommended for females)

  • Chest guard (madatory for females 16+, recommended for children & juniors)

  • Elbow Pads

  • Club Uniform (Black trousers and blue LSK team top)

  • *note for WAKO competitions, equipment and uniforms must be approved (Top Ten/Century etc.)

 

✅ All equipment must be clean, in good condition
🚫 No jewelry, watches, or piercings are allowed during the competition

Event Day Logistics:

Arrival: Arrive early to allow time for registration, weigh-in, warm-up, and category confirmation.

Weigh-In: Bring identification and be ready to weigh in with minimal clothing.

Schedule: Find out your category number and area number, it is your responsibility to know when you are due on the mat.

Timings: Listen for announcements — matches can run ahead or behind schedule.

Warm-Up: It is up to you to get yourself warmed up and prepared for your division, LSK coaches and team mates will help you.

Coaching & Support: You’ll have a designated coach in your corner.

Mental & Physical Preparation:

Get plenty of rest in the days leading up to the event.

Eat balanced meals and stay hydrated.

Pack your bag the night before with everything you need.

Visualise your performance and stay focused — remember, competitions are about experience and learning as much as winning.
